Cryopreservation of Embryos
The aim of the project is the cryopreservation of 200 2-cell stage embryos per strain. This number of embryos will ensure the recovery of the strain from cryostorage.
We support a variety of mating schemes to serve a wide range of research applications.
To demonstrate the high quality of the cryopreserved embryos, embryos will be thawed for test rederivation. Life birth will be scored.
Cryopreservation of Sperm
The aim of the project is the cryopreservation of sperm cells using the Jax Sperm Cryo Kit. The procedure and number of straws ensures the recovery of the strain from cryostorage and potentially facilitates up to 20 recoveries (strain depended). For all projects, quality controls of the frozen sperm is performed by way of IVF and culture to two cell stage embryos.
Rederivation of the mouse line by IVF is not included in this service and needs to be scheduled separately. See under in-vitro fertilization.
