Rederivation Services

Embryotransfer

Embryotransfers are performed as a routine service with the goal to rederive lines compatible to the high health status of the EPIC experimental or breeding barriers. The service can be performed with life animals or frozen embryos.

The exact number of animals or embryos required depends on the individual projects. Once sufficient animals or embryos for a given project are available, the transfer project can be completed within 5-8 weeks.

In-vitro Fertilization

The in-vitro fertilization (IVF) service is performed as a routine service with the goal to rederive lines to a compatible health status where frozen or fresh sperm cells are availalbe.

Alternatively, IVF is used to rapidly expand a given mouse colony for research use.

ISCI

Under certain conditions, cryopreserved sperm may exhibit suboptimal quality, rendering traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF) unsuitable for transgenic line rederivation.

When IVF fails due to low sperm motility and fertilization capacity, Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) becomes a viable alternative.

This intricate procedure entails using a piezo-assisted drill to create a tiny opening in the outer layer of the oocyte. Subsequently, a decapitated sperm head is injected into the cytoplasm of the oocyte, facilitating fertilization.
